Happy Mothers Day to my Mom ... a modern day Proverbs 31 woman!

As a single, 24 year old mother of three (twins plus my sister 13 months later) my mom cooked, cleaned, made all of our clothes, curtains, and even made beautiful quilts on a frame she built in our garage. She planted vegetables, re-upholstered our furniture, and made household decorations made out of bark, egg shells and even dried flowers found in fields. She made furniture, painted, and was an amazing artist! Her list of talents just goes on and on.

She read her Bible everyday, took us to church weekly and nurtured a biblical foundation that remains with me to this day.

She never remarried and gave of herself completely to us, strangers and to the elderly. My mom died too soon, unexpectedly, but God was with her during her entire life all the way through the end. I always thought she never got to really experience and live life, but she did live the life she wanted to lead. I never thought to tell her that all of my dreams, successes and creativity stems from her being my Mom. I wish she was alive today so that I could:

"Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." - Proverbs 31:31

February Transformation

Sponges are Superior

I can gently touch a person's skin with my eyes closed and can tell if he/she is merely using their hands with a cleanser to clean the face. To effectively free your face of dirt, makeup and flakey skin, you need to use something else other than your fingertips to get the job done.

I do not recommend facial brushes because they cannot be sterilized at home or 2) facial towels because they sit around wet, attracting anything airborne, and left to dry only to be used again the next day for sometimes weeks at a time.

I do recommend facial sponges for many reasons. Not only are they gentle in effectively cleansing the skin, but they are disposable, biodegradable (at least the ones I sell), and you can rinse and wring them out, put them in the microwave for about 30-60 seconds to kill any bacteria you might be concerned about growing on them. I personally use them every day and night and it has cleared up my problem areas and has revolutionized the way I clean my face. I use a new one every 5 days or less.

January Transformation

I want to transform your eyebrows and makeup for free!

I really love what I do and I've decided that I'm going to do a free makeup and eyebrow transformation for one lucky lady/teenager every month this year. Maybe more. I will choose the dates and it will take place in my Santa Monica Studio on Saturdays at 5pm only. Twelve people will be randomly chosen this year and must be willing to sign a Model Release giving me permission to post her pictures on social media, etc.

In the meantime, this is Maribel Garth. This is the second time I've had the opportunity to transform her makeup and eyebrows. The first time was 3 1/2 ears ago on her wedding day and I've been eager all this time to do it again. I began by creating, tweezing and trimming a different and better shape for her tattooed eyebrows. I also used my signature "Brow Hero" brush to create realistic hair like strokes. I did her eye makeup, neutralized and concealed her under eye discoloration, then completed the makeup transformation.

3 1/2 Weeks

I forgot to take an "after" picture, but today this is what my client's lash extensions looked like AFTER I gave her a full set 3 1/2 WEEKS AGO! She went on vacation, swam in the ocean and her lashes looked great and she's still receiving so many compliments. Today I just replaced those that were loose or had grown off.

2016 Eyebrows

First brows for 2016: Mine! This is my secret to what I do to myself everyday to create realistic eyebrows.

Please note: The following steps work best on properly shaped, sparse or missing eyebrow hairs. You will need a magnifying mirror because if you can't see what you're doing, you'll believe you're doing nothing. You will also need my 3-n-1 "Brow Hero" brush (coming Spring 2016).

Step 1: Brush your brows in the direction that the hair is growing in. Whether it's up or down, dense or very little. This is very important!

Step 2: Choose a color half a shade lighter than your current hair color and create a base where you want your brows to reside on your face. (Most people have fake looking, drawn on eyebrows because they stop at this step.)

Step 3: Choose a darker shade that will compliment your current hair color to create hair-like strokes in the same direction that your eyebrow hair is growing in. If you go in the opposite direction, you will not achieve realistic looking eyebrows.
